Area Man Dies In Rollover Crash

A 30-year-old area man died in a fatality on U.S. Highway 2, mile marker 595, at about 10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19. The fatal victim in the crash was Clay Nygaard of Wolf Point.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the Ford F350 pickup the man was driving was traveling westbound. When a Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle exited the road to the left side and overturned multiple times.

The 30-year-old male driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 10-year-old male passenger was wearing a seatbelt and was extracted from the vehicle by the deputy. The passenger was transported to Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, speed and alcohol are suspected causes of the crash. Road conditions were clear and wet.
