Hornets Win Championship Of Minor Baseball League
The Hornets fought off the Fox Ford team, 16-10, in Wolf Point’s Minor League baseball championship game on Wednesday, June 26.
A two-run home run by Matthew Nasner helped Fox Ford take a 4-3 lead in the game’s opening inning. Fox Ford increased its advantage to 9-5 in the second inning.
The Hornets’ Keyden Beston accounted for a threerun home run in the top of the third as the Hornets pulled to a 9-9 deadlock.
After the Hornets were able to move ahead 12-9 in the top of the fourth, Beston hit a two-run homer in the top of the fifth to lead the team to a 16-10 advantage.
O’Ryan Burshia pitched the final three frames for the Hornets and allowed only one run during that span. He held Fox Ford scoreless in the bottom of the fifth to nail down the victory in impressive fashion.
Selected to the league’s all-star team were Maxton Moran, Oliver Buckles, Blake Porras, Matthew Nasner, Keyden Beston, O’Ryan Burshia, Gabe Uy, Quincee Clark, Phoenix Grandchamp, Kale Garfield, Reed Garfield and Kyran Morales.
