Bainville Council Discusses Town Clean Up Day
The Bainville Town Council held its regular meeting July 8. Guests included Cora Norton. Clean Up Day plans were discussed. Participants are asked to gather at the gazebo at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 20. Fliers have been sent to area residents.
Mayor Toby Romo said the cemetery and the park are looking good and said town residents have been complimenting the improvements. Payroll and delinquent accounts were approved.
Norton addressed the council regarding resolutions that were not clearly itemized with descriptions of the issues under discussion. She asked that future resolutions be explained clearly and in advance of meetings. Romo said he would see that agendas provide better and more timely detail in the future.
Public works/fire chief Lyle Lambert discussed the process for bid openings for the water project. Bids will be opened Aug. 1. He also mentioned the purchase a brush mower for the lagoon and other town owned properties. A motion was passed to purchase a mower at a cost of $8,200.
Lambert also unpacked details for maintenance and upgrades to the town sewer, which he said needs attention. “It’s something that needs to be soon, at least in the next couple of years,” said Lambert.
Romo discussed the water pipeline easement with Sanfield Development, which he said has been prepared by attorney Laura Christoffersen.
Building permits for Bainville Faith Fellowship and Gary and Brianna Brown were discussed and approved. Water loss was reported at 154,716 gallons, or 16 percent, in June. The town’s goal is 10 percent or less.
