Church Honors Individuals With Farewell Party
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church members recently conducted a farewell party for two of its leaders.
The congregation thanked Father Kiran Bernard for serving in Wolf Point for the past 18 months. He has been transferred to the Scobey/ Plentywood area.
Ann Wienke has devoted much time to the church as she has served as the church’s director of Catechesis and youth ministry for 21 years.
Wienke explained that she took over the responsibility after the previous director left and she was approached about taking over duties.
“I’m very grateful for the excellent teachers who taught programs,” she said. “I’m also grateful to the families for bringing their kids and developing their spiritual lives.”
Instruction included from preschool to high school seniors. One of her highlights was for junior high and high school students to be part of youth mission trips to Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Billings and Chicago.
“Those kids were great,” Wienke said.
Other highlights included fall family nights, vacation Bible school and lenten family nights. Fundraising activities featured having youth hamburger stands, popcorn ball sales and fish frys.
“I enjoyed working with kids who were completing the sacraments,” Wienke added.
She will remain as the music ministry coordinator for the church.
Her teaching experience included seven years at Southside and 11 years at Frontier.
“Being at the church was rewarding, but I love teaching too,” she said.
