Fair Will Miss Sethre’s Impact
A familiar face will be missing from this year’s Roosevelt County Fair, which is scheduled for Aug. 6-9 in Culbertson.
Long-time 4-H supporter Phyllis Sethre died last December at the age of 78.
She and her husband, Gary, volunteered for the Roosevelt County 4-H program for 35 years. She organized the Frontier club in Wolf Point. She was also a leader in all levels of the horsemanship and market sheep projects.
Roosevelt County Commissioner Gordon Oelkers has been a presence at the fair for many years as first the mayor of Culbertson and then as a county commissioner.
“She always had a positive impact on the fair and 4-H program,” Oelkers said. “She was always there for the past many years.”
The Sethres served for many years as Roosevelt County’s representatives for the 4-H legislative breakfasts.
