Fort Kipp Celebration This Weekend, Poplar Indian Days Set For August 30

The Fort Kipp Celebration is set for Aug. 22-25 at the powwow grounds south of U.S. Highway 2. Camping Day is set for Thursday (showers provided), with grand entries at 7 p.m. Friday and 1 and 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. A Creator’s Game horsemanship clinic sponsored by the Spotted Bull Recover Resource Center is set for Aug. 22. Visit the SBRRC Facebook page for more information about the clinic.

The Poplar Indian Days Labor Day Weekend Celebration is set for Aug. 30-Sept. 1 at American Legion Park. Grand Entry times are Friday at 7 p,m., and Saturday and Sunday at 1 and 7 p.m. Categories include Men’s and Golden Age grass, fancy and traditional and Women’s jingle, fancy and traditional, as well as Teen, Junior and Tiny Tots.

Camping day is Aug. 29. The host drum is Fort Peck Sioux. Specials include a $3,000 Men’s versus Women’s fancy special in honor of Headman Dancer Willy Greybull and Headwoman Dancer Jennifer GreyHawk, a $1,500 Hat & Boot Women’s special in honor Frankie Crawford and a $1,500 Women’s jingle special in honor of Princess 1st Attendant Sara Weeks.
