700 Club Conducts Interview In Area
Rickers To Appear On National Television
Darryn Ricker Sr.’s story of his recovery from a near-death experience is about to receive national attention.
Ricker and his wife, Laura, were interviewed by The 700 Club of The Christian Broadcasting Network last week. The interview took place in Wolf Point and also in Poplar, where Darryn works out regularly.
Issac Gwin, producer for The 700 Club, said it’s still to be determined when the segment will be broadcast, but he feels September is a possibility.
“It’s the survival element and what they were fighting through,” Gwin said of why the network is interested in the Wolf Point couple’s story. “And that they relied on God.”
Darryn Ricker, who is 64, said he suddenly saw blood in one of his eyes during a shopping trip in Williston, N.D.. in 2023. He was treated at a hospital, but later began suffering from additional problems including losing strength on the left side of his body.
He was transported to Minot, N.D., for a five-hour surgery that included cutting into his skull and draining blood. A few days later, on Jan. 23, his brain started to bleed again. Ricker was told that without the surgery, he would either die or become paralyzed. After a threehour operation, Ricker said he woke up a different person.
“God re-wired my brain,” he told the Northern Plains Independent in 2023. “They woke me up. I started to see a lot of things.”
He explained that he saw demons in his room.
“The last one stopped, looked at me and started to bleed. You could see the evil coming out,” Ricker said.
His goal is that the attention received from The 700 Club could results in the start of a Christian school in Wolf Point.
Ricker now swims and lifts weights every day as part of his recovery.
“I’m getting my physicality back,” he added.
He has participated in two triathlons.
