Brockton’s Football Team To Open Season At Home On Aug. 31
Brockton is looking forward to its second season in Montana’s six-man football ranks.
The squad is coached by Toby Youpee and Howard Black Dog.
“We have a pretty good team,” Black Dog said.
The Warriors have a turnout of 12 players. “We’re still waiting for a couple more to come and play,” Black Dog said last week.
Returning players for the Warriors include Josh Firemoon, Ronnie Black Dog, Weston Lambert, Quannah First That Walks and Charlie Firemoon.
Coach Black Dog said the squad is excited for its second year of competition. “Hopefully, we will prove more than last year.”
One change for Brockton’s football program is the addition of lights on the field. Fort Peck Tribes purchased the lights, which were erected by Sheridan Electric.
With a shortage of referees, school officials aren’t confident how many games will be played under the light since this year’s schedule would need to be changed.
Black Dog, who played high school football in Poplar, said the players will be excited to play under the lights. A pep rally and tailgate party are being planned at night prior to the first home game.
