City Continues Work On Improving Streets
Wolf Point Mayor Chris Dschaak said the city’s goal continues to be making streets as good as possible for area drivers.
Dschaak said the main emphasis has been addressing potholes around town.
“It’s ongoing,” the mayor said. He expects more paving of alleys will occur this week.
“We might get a contractor to help with larger paving issues,” Dschaak said.
One improvement that area residents are grateful for is the improving of the street by the railroad tracks on Sixth Avenue South. The project was completed by BNSF.
“They did a very good job on that,” Dschaak said.
Phase 2A of the sewer project for the south side of Wolf Point is anticipated to start in October. The 2B phase will hopefully start next spring.
Relying on state and federal grants, the first phase cost about $10 million and the second phase will cost about $4.5 million.
The two new homes through a grant from the Montana Department of Commerce will hopefully arrive by the end of the calendar year.
“My understanding is that they have just started constructing them,” Dschaak said.
He is pleased that the police department now features three individuals after having only two since the beginning of the year. The city continues advertising for additional police officers.
