Area Runners Place At Baker Meet
Cross country athletes from Poplar, Wolf Point, Brockton and Frazer enjoyed success during the competition in Baker on Saturday, Sept. 21.
Poplar won top honors in the girls’ competition with 22 points. Brockton placed second with 57. Tying for third with 72 points each were Colstrip and Richey/Lambert.
Poplar’s eighth-grader Journey Gourneau ran to first-place honors with a time of 23:05.3. Teammate Mattie Falls Down finished third at 23:42.1.
Kellyn Azure took fifth place at 25:03.2. Amelia Weeks finished sixth at 25:13.9. Alara Cooper was seventh at 25:38.8.
Kelbee Redstone placed 22nd at 28:24.4. Harley Daniels took 41st at 34:04.9.
Brockton’s freshman Brae-Lynn DeMarrias finished in fourth place with a time of 24:38.8.
Tamryn Bauer of Brockton took 12th at 26:14.3. Taylor Cummins was 16th at 26:57.9.
Jade Olney took 35th at 33:12.0. Mackenzie Jones was 36th at 33:17.6. Marlene Fish placed 38th at 33:47.4.
Wolf Point’s Lakealah Mays ran the course in 26:50.7 for 14th place.
Leading Frazer was Brianna Beston with a time of 28:09.6 for 20th place.
Frazer’s Noli Sibley placed 33rd at 32:05.0. Elli Mail was 40th at 33:56.3.
In the boys’ division, Poplar placed second with 30 points. Colstrip won top honors with 25 points.
Poplar’s junior Eljin Grey Bear finished in second place at 19:23.1. Colstrip’s Keaton Sample won the race at 19:19.3.
Jayden Eder of Poplar took seventh at 20:12.8. Issac Irizarry was eighth at 20:13.8.
Navarjo Escarcega finished in 11th place at 20:34.5. Raylando Red Eagle placed 17th at 21:02.7.
Stephen Smoker took 26th place at 22:33.8.
Wolf Point’s senior Rebel Mays finished in third place with a time of 19:49.2.
Frazer’s sophomore Gabe Beston placed fourth at 19:53.9. Bryce Fourstar of Frazer took 37th at 25:23.1.
Brockton’s Miles Boxer Jr. finished in 12th place at 20:49.0.
Joshua Firemoon of Brockton took 19th at 21:32.4.
