Wolf Point Drops Conference Matches
The Wolf Point Wolves improved throughout the match but lost to a solid Malta volleyball team by a 13-25, 8-25, 21-25, margin on Saturday, Sept. 21.
Malta accounted for the match’s opening 10 points. Neva Jacobson served four aces during the stretch. Having kills were Denvyr Tuss, Ava Hanson and Hailey Welch.
Wolf Point’s Ma’Kenzie Jackson had a kill and ace to highlight the Wolves’ play in the set. Ahead by a 15-5 margin, the Mettes went on to increase the gap to 19-8.
An ace by Marley Moran and a kill by Karmyn Plain Feather closed the margin to 19-11, but Malta earned a 25-13 win.
After an ace by Keeley Blount-Henderson pulled the Wolves to 14-6 in the second set, Malta struck for the next nine points with the play of Tuss and Hanson leading the way. Malta won the set by a 25-8 final.
The Wolves played their best in the third set as a kill by Plain Feather, an ace by Lauren Rodenberg and a kill by Kashlyn Speak Thunder produced an 11-11 deadlock.
Malta moved ahead 20-14, but the Wolves battled back to 21-18 on a kill by Blount-Henderson, a block by Rodenberg and an ace by Johnson. Malta then gained a 24-20 lead en route to the victory.
The Wolves lost at Fairview by a 19-25, 10-25, 6-25, final on Friday, Sept. 20.
