Brockton Plays Home Football Game Against Red Hawks
In only their second year of existence, Brockton’s football program continues to improve. The Warriors, however, lost their home game against Froid/Lake by a 48-6 final on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Froid/Lake got into scoring position quickly when Eddie Orozco intercepted a pass at the Brockton 30. Two plays later, Eddie Orozco broke loose for a 19-yard touchdown run. Brockton created an offensive highlight on its next possession when Quannah First That Walks connected with Alex Bullcalf on a 31-yard pass play to the Froid/Lake 24. Strong defensive efforts by Carsen Kelm and Joseph Robertson prevented the Warriors from scoring.
E. Orozco then raced 53 yards for a touchdown. The sophomore also kicked the conversion for a 14-0 lead with 6:30 left in the first quarter.
A leaping catch by Thomas Black Dog gave Brockton a first down at the Red Hawk 36. Brockton’s First That Walks completed several short passes, but the possession ended on downs.
Froid/Lake reached the end zone next on a 35-yard pass play from Rylan Young to Jacob Martensen for a 20-0 advantage.
The Red Hawks’ final touchdown of the first quarter came on a 22-yard dash by R. Orozco with 35 seconds left. E. Orozco kicked the conversion for a 28-0 lead.
Froid/Lake’s Kelm intercepted a pass and raced 18 yards for a touchdown to increase the margin to 34-0 with 9:44 remaining in the half.
The Red Hawks were able to move ahead 42-0 on a 14yard dash by R. Orozco with 8:58 left in the half.
Froid/Lake reached the end zone on the last play of the half when Jake Nordlund broke loose for a 21-yard run to put the margin at 48-0.
Brockton got on the scoreboard when Colter Nygard, while being tackled, pitched the ball back to First That Walks, who ran 24 yards for a touchdown with 7:56 left.
The Warriors were driving again in the final minutes, but the threat ended on an interception by Young.
