Montana’s Minimum Wage Set to Increase

The Montana Department of Labor and Industry reminds Montana businesses and workers that the minimum wage will increase from $10.30 to $10.55 beginning on Jan. 1, 2025.

Montana law requires the minimum wage to be adjusted annually for inflation using the August estimates of the Consumer Price Index for Urban Consumers. The CPI-U increased by 2.53 percent from August 2023 to August 2024. The law requires the minimum wage to be rounded to the nearest five cents.

In 2023, the industry with the largest number of workers earning minimum wage was the accommodations and food services industry (62 percent of all minimum wage workers) followed by the arts, entertainment and recreation industry (10 percent).

The most recent minimum wage information is on the Labor Market Information website (https://lmi.mt.gov/ minimumwage). This dashboard is updated when new data becomes available.
