Bainville Scores League Win Over Lustre Christian

The Bainville Bulldogs handed Lustre Christian a 2513, 25-14, 25-14, home volleyball defeat on Friday, Oct. 11.

The Lions cut the margin to 10-5 on a kill by Hannah Brown in the first set, but Bainville gained a 15-5 lead on the net play of Lila Butikofer, Hailey Berwick and Miah Pippenger.

After a kill by Brown and a block by Sidney Klatt pulled Lustre to 15-8, the Bulldogs earned a 21-10 lead on a kill by Elsie Wilson and ace by Addison Hansen. Lustre fought back to 23-13 on a kill and ace by Kencia Brown, but the Bulldogs ended the set on a kill by Berwick.

The second set was deadlocked at 8-8, but Bainville took the upper-hand on kills by Chandi Johnson and Wilson. Pippenger served aces to help increase the margin to 18-10.

Berwick accounted for kills to put Bainville ahead by a 24-14 score. Butikofer served an ace for the final point.

After Bainville gained an 18-10 advantage in the third set, the Lions fought back on an ace by Lauryn Holzrichter and a block by Klatt. Kills scored by Wilson and Pippenger put Bainville ahead by a 24-14 margin. Johnna Ryder served an ace for the last point.

Berwick finished with 13 kills, 10 digs and two aces.

Wilson accounted for seven kills and eight digs.

Pippenger had nine digs, two aces and a block.

Butikofer finished with two kills, 10 digs, 15 assists and two aces.
