Homecoming For Harada At High School
Just in time for the school’s homecoming celebration, Wolf Point native Jaki Harada is back teaching at the high school.
The 2018 Wolf Point High School graduate started her duties as a high school English teacher on Sept. 30.
“There’s nothing better than teaching in your hometown,” Harada said.
After graduating with her education degree from Montana State University in Billings in 2022, she taught for about a semester in Wolf Point. She then decided to live close to her brother and have a “gap” year in New York City.
She was part of a catering team for a law firm in the huge city, but she’s excited to be returning to the teaching profession.
“I love teaching,” she said. “We’re getting in the groove and getting used to each other.”
Along with classroom work, Harada will serve as an assistant speech and drama coach for Wolf Point.
She mentions that she and head coach Jacob Boysun used to be speech and drama teammates back in the day.
“This was always one of our dreams,” Harada said of coaching together. “It’s real exciting.”
When she was in high school, Harada placed third at the state competition as a mime. She is thrilled that this year’s team will feature two mimes.
She plans to continue her teaching career in Wolf Point and earn her masters degree at some point.
In her free time, she says her father, Jeff, is keeping her busy by having her attend church services and watching baseball games on TV.
