Senior Profile Williams Shows Great Spirit At High School
Wolf Point High School senior Jaycen Williams is one of the students that helps create positive school spirit for the Wolves.
Williams plays the tenor saxophone for both the regular school band and the pep band. She has been playing the instrument for only a little more than a year.
“I thought it would be fun and my friends are in it,” Williams said of band. “It’s a fun environment.”
She’s glad with the enthusiasm that the pep band provides at home games.
“I think our school needs it,” Williams said. “Pep band is a huge part of school spirit.”
As one of the editors of the school’s yearbook, she enjoys helping put up decorations at the school including colorful posters for upcoming activities.
This will be her second year being involved in the speech and drama program. As a sophomore, she enjoyed success in the humorous duo competition. She will participate in dramatic solo this year.
“For dramatic solo, you need something sad or serious. I’m getting used to my new piece,” Williams said.
Her selection is Rosie The Teddy Bear by Steven Bergman. The piece tells the story of an abused little girl from the teddy bear’s prospective.
Williams’ goals for the season include placing well, qualifying for state and improving on her acting abilities.
She plans to be a member of the golf team this spring for the first time. She golfed with friends a few times during the summer. “They said I’m pretty good for a beginner,” she noted.
In the classroom, her favorite subject is stats and calculus. Her favorite teacher is Steven Schwartz because he provides good advice.
Williams said her high school years have gone by fast, but she’s ready for the next step in her education. She has been accepted to attend Montana State University in Bozeman to study business and finance.
