National Honor Society Inducts New Members In Wolf Point
The National Honor Society induction ceremony at Wolf Point High School included eight new members on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
The organization’s new members are Marley Moran, Navella Weeks, Richard Campbell, Lauren Rodenberg, Kashlyn Speak Thunder, Cole Boysun, Caitlyn Wilson and Tavian Bell. Other members are Chase Adams, Ameliya Doney, Ali Corpron, Victoria Wozniak, Logan Wolff and Isabella Sanchez. Advisor is Leslie Larson.
Montana Wilson was the guest speaker. Wilson, who serves as Wolf Point’s city attorney, spoke of the organization’s four pillars of leadership, scholarship, character and service.
Wilson, a 2009 Wolf Point High School graduate, said regarding leadership that a true leader serves as a role model. Individuals should embrace leadership in school and the community. A goal should be to inspire your peers.
As far as scholarship, Wilson said academic excellence is the hallmark of National Honor Society. Students should be committed to academic curiosity. Wilson urged students to ask questions. He noted that learning is a life-long activity.
Wilson said character is typically defined by honesty and integrity. What matters is how you act when no one else is watching. He added that reputation is not only what you accomplish but how you treat others.
Wilson said service is giving back to the community. He noted that service isn’t only an obligation but a privilege.
He encouraged all students to reflect on the four pillars. He said the pillars will serve them as a compass in life.
The program included a candle lighting ceremony featuring Adams, Wozniak, Wolff, Sanchez and Corpron.
