Poplar Drops Final Home Football Game Of Year Against Scobey Team
The Poplar football program honored its seniors on Saturday, Oct. 19, but the Indians then fell to a strong Scobey squad by a 60-0 final.
There were highlights for the Indians, especially early on, in the conference game.
Scobey scored on its third play from scrimmage when Kolten Machart broke loose for a 48-yard touchdown run.
The Indians responded with a nice drive of their own. Runs by quarterback Chasen Pribbernow produced a first down at the 40. A nice screen pass from Pribbernow to Zane Dupree was good for another first down at the Scobey 25.
The threat ended when a fourth-down pass fell incomplete.
A pair of long runs by Scobey’s Torsten Lamb put the ball at the Poplar seven. From there, Machart scored with 2:29 left in the first quarter. Machart ran in the conversion for a 14-0 margin.
On Poplar’s next possession, a pass from Pribbernow to Keilen Erickson advanced the ball into Scobey possession but the Indians couldn’t reach the end zone.
The Spartans increased their lead to 22-0 on a 47-yard dash by Machart with 10:22 left in the half. A three-yard run by Nicholas Turner put the margin at 30-0 with 7:41 remaining in the half.
Scobey gained a 38-0 lead on a 27-yard dash by Lamb with 5:53 left in the half.
The Spartans struck on a three-yard touchdown run by Teagan Fishell and a touchdown pass from Reese Tande to Nicholas Turner during the third quarter. Scobey added a final touchdown in the fourth period for a 60-0 final.
Poplar will end its season in Broadus on Friday, Oct. 25.
