Purvis Running Toward Future Goals
Senior Profile
Culbertson High School senior Colin Purvis is nearing the end to his path of becoming a high school graduate. During his time at the school, Purvis has completed many miles for the Culbertson/Bainville cross country team.
This is his second year as a cross-country athlete.
“I like running,” Purvis said. He is proud of his accomplishments of qualifying for the state meet as both a junior and a senior.
The fact that his brother, Arlie, is also a member of the program this year has made this season even more special.
Colin’s other sport is basketball, which he has played since the sixth grade. He said basketball is his favorite sport. “It’s fun and my teammates make it fun,” Purvis said.
A band member since the fifth grade, he first played the trumpet but now is part of the percussion section because the band needed more percussionists.
Another hobby is playing video games.
In the classroom, his favorite subject is government.
He notes that Dave Solum is his favorite instructor. “He’s a funny teacher,” Purvis said.
Purvis has lived in Culbertson for his entire life. His family has been in Culbertson for five generations.
“There are nice people,” he said.
After graduating from high school, he plans to work in the construction field.
