Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report
The Roosevelt County Sheriffs Office responded to 99 calls from Oct. 13-20. The calls included the following: Oct. 13
Deputies conducted a probation check in Culbertson on the request of state probation.
Oct. 15
Deputies responded to Fort Kipp for a report that a female wanted someone removed from a residence. An adult female agreed to leave and she was given a ride to Poplar.
Deputies responded to Culbertson to take a complaint of possible check fraud. The incident is under investigation.
While conducting a bar check at the Mint Bar in Froid, deputies noticed an adult male that had an active warrant out of South Dakota. Richard Lien, 59, was placed under arrest and taken to the Roosevelt County Jail.
Oct. 16
Deputies received a report of animal cruelty regarding two hungry dogs in Wolf Point. The dogs were taken to animal control and received medical treatment.
Deputies received a report of a juvenile female who didn’t return home after school. The teenager was located and returned to her mother.
Oct. 17
Deputies assisted Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice with a call at Poplar tribal housing that an adult male saying he was assaulted by a female. He wanted her to be removed from the residence. Christine Hotomaine, 41, was taken to tribal jail for the charge of partner/family member assault.
Deputies and state probation officials conducted a probation check in Wolf Point’s city limits. No arrests were made.
Oct. 18
Deputies responded to a complaint in the Poplar airport addition regarding loud music coming from a vehicle. Law enforcement talked to a resident about the noise complaint.
Deputies and FPTDLJ responded to a fight near Dad’s Bar in Wolf Point. One male was reportedly punched in the face. FPTDLJ took Jacob BadHawk, 34, to the tribal jail for the charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct.
Oct. 19
Deputies assisted FPTDLJ in Poplar for a report of multiple individuals involved in a fight.
Deputies assisted the Valley County Sheriff’s Office with an arrest made in Frazer. Roosevelt County transported the individual to tribal jail.
Oct. 20
Deputies received a report of a possible kidnapping in Poplar. The report was that a juvenile was taken away from his father by a women who wasn’t the child’s mother. FPTDLJ arrested an adult woman and took her to tribal jail.
Deputies and FPTDLJ received a report of a male finding a grenade with a pin in it northwest of Poplar. The Poplar Fire Department was on standby for the incident. It turned out to be a CS gas grenade. A deputy, trained with handling explosives, removed the grenade from the field.
