Runners Earn Honors At Harlem Invitational
Poplar’s girls ran away with team honors from the Harlem Invitational cross country meet on Friday, Oct. 18.
The Indians finished with a team score of 20 points. Harlem took second with 24 points and Chinook placed third with 28 points.
Shelbi LaBrie of Whitewater was the individual winner with a time of 19:29.7.
Poplar’s Journey Gourneau ran to a sixth-place finish at 21:11.1.
Teammate Cammie Martell earned eighth place at 21:54.0 while Mattie Falls Down finished ninth at 21:56.8.
Amelia Weeks took 13th place at 22:53.1. Kellyn Azure was right behind with a time of 23:23.7 for 14th place.
Alara Cooper was 16th at 23:52.5. Kelbee Redstone placed 22nd at 25:35.2.
Harley Daniels took 26th place at 26:39.9.
Poplar’s boys placed third in the team standings with 27 points. Harlem won the meet with seven points, Harlem’s Ethan Walker ran the course in 16:33.6 for top honors.
Poplar’s Eljin Grey Bear placed fifth at 17:36.0. Issac Irizarry finished ninth at 18:02.8.
Wilder Bearcub took 14th place at 18:36.2. Ryder Olson was 18th at 18:52.7.
River Olson placed 26th at 19:21.6. Raylando Red Eagle took 28th place at 19:22.6.
Navarjo Escarcega finished in 29th place at 19:23.2. Jayden Eder placed 32nd at 19:40.2.
Stephen Smoker took 38th at 20:02.8. Memphis Mathison was 41st at 20:15.7.
Mickey Failing placed 66th at 24:15.7. Dustin Smith was 72nd at 29:32.5.
Wolf Point took fifth in the team standings with 54 points.
Wolf Point’s senior Rebel Mays earned third place at the meet with a time of 17:30.4.
Andrew Williamson of Wolf Point took 35th at 19:47.9. Reilly Rees placed 36th at 19:58.6.
Kayeiko Villaluz took 47th place at 20:46.7. Ezekiel Payne was 71st at 24:58.5.
In the girls’ competition, Wolf Point’s Lakealah Mays finished 20th at 25:01.3.
The state meet will take place on Saturday, Oct. 26, in Missoula.
