Poplar Students Run, Get More Colorful
A good-sized group of Poplar elementary students had an enjoyable race and came away looking a little different after a color run on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
The event was for elementary students in grades kindergarten through fourth grade. Their cross country coaches Rolfe Schwarzkopf and Kenda Stuehm organized the activity. About 30 to 35 students went the distance.
Throwing the chalk at the runners were parents, volunteers and high school cross country athletes.
“It’s fun,” Poplar senior cross country athlete Mattie Falls Down said.
Schwarzkopf noted it was the first time that the fun activity was held through the program.
The young runners didn’t only complete a mile on their course but then also went around the track for a lap.
Fort Peck’s Health Promotion Disease Prevention program provided T-shirts for the event.
