Speech, Drama Team Features Good Turnout
Coaches Jacob Boysun and Jaki Harada are pleased to have a solid group of students returning for Wolf Point’s speech and drama program.
The Wolves will open their season in Sidney on Saturday, Nov. 2.
The program’s turnout consists of 18 students.
“We have a lot of kids so we’re excited,” Harada said.
The returning students include Cole Boysun and Elliauna Ryan in humorous duo. They have qualified for the state meet in each of the past two seasons.
Other students with a great amount of experience include Chase Adams in humorous duo, Maya Desserly in humorous oral interpretation, Jayla BigTalk in humorous solo, Audrey Weinberger in spontaneous oral interpretation and Logan Wolff in extemporaneous speaking. Adams, Summers and Weinberger also qualified for the state meet last season.
“We have a few more serious than funny ones this year,” Coach Jacob Boysun said of individual entries.
Because of a rule change by the Montana High School Association, teams can have eighth-grade students compete this season. Wolf Point’s team currently includes three eighth-graders.
“I’m excited to have them for five years instead of four years,” Boysun said.
Last season, Wolf Point earned the second place trophy at the divisional meet.
Coaches say that goals this season is placing at least second at divisional and qualifying as many students as possible for the state meet.
A highlight this season will be Wolf Point hosting a meet on Dec. 7. It will be the program’s first home meet since about 2015. Judges are needed for the home competition. If interested, contact Boysun or Harada.
