Lions Compete At District Tournament
The volleyball season for Lustre Christian ended with a 22-25, 13-25, 13-25, loss against Richey/Lambert on Friday, Nov. 1.
Kills by Lauren Holzrichter, Rachel Pew and Jaden Gibson kept the Lions close midway into the first set. An ace by Lauren Fast tied the score at 17-17.
After kills by Addi Foss put the Fusion ahead, Lustre scored on a kill and ace by Hannah Brown. Another ace by H. Brown cut the gap to 23-22, but a kill by Jolee Klempel led Richey/Lambert to a first set victory.
Lustre fell behind in the second set before an ace by Kencia Brown and blocks by Gibson closed the gap to 1511. The hard hitting of Klempel increased the margin to 24-12. After Lustre scored a point, Klempel ended the set with a kill.
The net play of H. Brown was a highlight for the Lions during the third set, but a kill by Keira Rains and the serving of Brooke Lien put the Fusion ahead 18-9. The Fusion scored on kills by Foss and Klempel down the stretch for the 25-13 final.
Lustre lost to MonDak by a 15-25, 20-25, 25-23, 26-24, 8-15, final in the first round of the district tournament.
