Optimist Club Plans Angel Tree, Bazaar
The Optimist Club of Wolf Point is planning its Angel Tree campaign again this holiday season but stresses deadlines are a little earlier than in past years.
This year’s Angel Tree donation deadline is Friday, Dec. 13. Organizers note the earlier deadline is so that the requested items can be purchased in time for delivery. The lack of local shopping locations makes it a little bit of a challenge.
Last year, gifts were presented to nearly 80 children through the program.
Individuals can pick up angel tags at local banks and churches, as well as at the Northern Plains Independent’s office. The back of the tags will provide information such as gender, age, gift ideas and sizes.
Gifts can be dropped off at the Northern Plains Independent’s office with Optimist Club member Darla Downs.
The gifts will be delivered on Dec. 20 by the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office. Optimists will prepare and wrap the gifts the days immediately prior to delivery.
Wolf Point’s radio station, KVCK, will host the Optimists’ annual radio-a-thon from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, with all proceeds going to the Angel Tree Project.
The annual Christmas Bazaar is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wolf Point High School. Cost for vendor space is $30.
The event will feature the ever-popular Optimists’ cookie and candy table for your sweet tooth. Lunch items will feature a salad bar, chili and hot dogs. A wide variety of items will be offered by area vendors.
