Red Hawks Beat Brockton, Fusion
Froid/Lake knocked off Brockton by a 25-10, 25-6, 2512, final on Friday morning.
The first set was deadlocked at 7-7 until the Red Hawks ran off 11 straight points. Leading the charge were kills by Mara Salvevold, Isabelle Nordwick and Joelle Davidson along with the serving of Brooklynn Nordwick.
Ahead by a 22-10 margin, Froid/Lake ended the first set on kills by Salvevold and B. Nordwick.
The Red Hawks accounted for the first 14 points of the second set including four aces by I. Nordwick and kills by Salvevold and Addison Elvsaas.
Brockton scored on a spike by Marlene Fish and an ace by BraeLynn DeMarrias, but the serving of Avery Johnson led the way to a 23-5 lead for the Red Hawks.
After an ace by Tatawna Youngman, the Red Hawks finished the set on a kill by B. Nordwick and an ace by Salvevold.
The Warriors led early in the third set, but aces by B. Nordwick produced a 12-10 lead for the Red Hawks.
With the score at 14-12, Froid/Lake tallied the final 11 points including kills by Jordyn Breuer and seven aces by I. Nordwick.
The Froid-Lake Red Hawks swept Richey/Lambert in a hard-fought match at the district tournament on Friday, Nov. 1.
Froid/Lake earned a 25-17, 25-18, 25-20, victory in loser-out action. Kills by Brooklynn Nordwick and Isabelle Nordwick along with an ace by Mara Salvevold put the Red Hawks up 9-4 in the opening set. A kill by Salvevold provided Froid/Lake with a 19-11 advantage later in the set.
After a block by B. Nordwick was good for a 21-15 lead, the Fusion stayed close as a kill by Jolee Klempel made the score 23-17. The Red Hawks tallied the last two points of the set including one on a kill by Salvevold.
The Red Hawks trailed by an 11-10 margin in the second set until the serving of B. Nordwick and net play of I. Nordwick led the way to a 16-11 advantage.
A kill by Salvevold produced a 19-14 lead, but the Fusion kept battling and trailed by only a 21-18 margin after a kill by Keira Rains.
Froid/Lake struck for the last four points of the second set including one on an ace by Salvevold.
The third set was deadlocked at 14-14 until a kill by Salvevold, a tip by Jordyn Breuer and an ace by I. Nordwick earned the Red Hawks an 18-14 lead.
The Fusion fought back to 20-19 on a kill by Rains and a tip by Klempel, but Froid/ Lake responded with a block by Salvevold and a serve by Avery Johnson. After a kill by Klempel, the Red Hawks earned the last three points of the match.
