JOM Plans Hand Games Night For Students
Wolf Point’s JOM organization planned a special activity for Native American Heritage Month during its meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 6. The group announces a hand games night will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 19, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the high school’s multi-purpose room. The idea is having this fun night for high school and junior high students, and then having similar hand games activities at Northside and Southside schools during upcoming months.
A meal will be provided to the students. There will also be some prizes.
JOM members also approved providing Northside Elementary School with $1,000 for the school’s new store. Principal Georgie Gourneau said the school district will match the funding. She explained that items available at the store are based on a student survey for which materials they wanted to have available. Students score points from their teachers to encourage good behavior. Those points are used to obtain items at the school store.
JOM members approved the request of $2,490 for a proposal from the high school. Principal Kim Hanks said the high school will provide funds for additional costs in the projects.
One of Hanks’ proposals involve incentives for students to earn triple crown status. In order to achieve triple crown recognition, students must be on the honor roll for three consecutive quarters. The other proposal is for students to become more committed in earning higher scores with assessment testing.
