Winners Announced During Achievement Day
Members, leaders and volunteers of the 4-H Program in Roosevelt County gathered on Sunday, Nov. 3, to celebrate their achievements throughout the 4-H year. The club host was the Centennial Clovers 4-H Club, providing a meal, games and decorations to showcase 4-H project work. Members must complete record books, attend and participate in monthly meetings, do community service events and public speaking.
There are 58 enrolled 4-H members, including eight Cloverbuds. Club members were awarded project pins based on their record books and years of service. Projects included cooking, baking, small engines, beef, poultry, sheep, swine, goat, vet science, horse, rabbit, wildlife, dog, cat, visual arts, woodworking, forestry and photography.
Special award recognitions was given to 4-H members for achievement: Jodi Albus, Blythe Anderson, Ella Anderson, Tally Berwick, Tenley Berwick, Kaden Featherston, Samson Smoker, Emilynn Priddy- Powell, Holden Salivar, Tacey Traeger and Elsie Wilson. In leadership, Ella Anderson and Holden Salivar were presented awards, for citizenship - Tally Berwick, and for public speaking - Tenley Berwick and Jaxon Flinn.
For livestock carcass awards, placing first and receiving the Steer of Merit was Kalia Featherston. Also receiving top five honors were Hailey Berwick, Tenley Berwick, Elsie Wilson and Rowan Wilson. In market hogs, Tacey Traeger captured first place and received the Symbol of Excellence Award.
Also receiving the Symbol of Excellence Award were CeJay Flinn, Emmalyn Anderson, Jodi Albus, Joslynn Johnson, Tally Berwick, Jaylynn Bjorge and Tannen Traeger. With market lambs. Kaden Featherston achieved top honors and certified lamb status. Also receiving certified lamb were Jaylynn Bjorge, Kalia Featherston and Ella Anderson. Keira Stentoft received top market goat honors and Carcass of Merit. Also receiving Carcass of Merit for goats was Tenley Berwick. 4-H members that have submitted their completed records are also awarded buckles. Rate of Gain awards were given to Tenley Berwick for beef, Ella Anderson for sheep, Payton Labatte for goat and Jordyn Breuer for swine.
The Silver Spur Award was sponsored by Connie and Dick Iversen. Points were accrued from the 2024 horse entries. In the beginner category, Boone VandenBos was awarded a belt buckle and in the junior category, Priddy-Powell won the award and received a buckle. Finally, the outstanding club secretary was awarded to Priddy-Powell based on the turning in minutes and filing them at the extension office within 30 days and keeping a complete and accurate record of the meetings.
4-H is a family-oriented program that is proven to build life-longs skills.
