Bigger Sky Kids Receives Grant
Bigger Sky Kids has received a $2,500 Experience Grant from the Montana Arts Council. It will cover the cost of multiple subscriptions to Adobe’s Creative Cloud and a subscription to Ali Kay’s Studio.
Volunteer Diane Taylor, a special education teacher at Wolf Point High School, will introduce students to Fresco, one of more than 20 applications that make up the Creative Cloud.
Fresco replicates the experience of painting in oil and watercolor, with live brushes that look and feel like the real thing. Students will work on previously donated Microsoft Surface computers using electronic pens.
Barbara Olson, also a volunteer, will lead a class in acrylics, using insights gained from Fresh Paint, an online class guided by artist Ali Kay. The class encourages students to experiment with bold colors and loose brushstrokes. It makes painting easy and fun. Included is a rich assortment of templates and projects, many with holiday themes, which Olson will share with students.
Taylor has a master’s degree in educational technology focusing on modern technology in the classroom. Olson, who serves as Bigger Sky Kids’ program director, has a master’s degree in education specializing in integrated teaching through the arts.
All students attending Bigger Sky Kids are welcome to participate in one or both classes.
