Cole Graduates From Law Academy

After years of devotion to law enforcement, Roosevelt County deputy Angela Cole graduated from the Montana Law Enforcement Academy on Nov. 8.

Cole has worked for the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office since September 2023. Prior experience includes being a military police officer and as a tribal officer.

“I know we need law enforcement here in the community,” Cole said. “It’s always been something that interested me. I want to protect my family and friends.”

Cole was one of 62 officers who graduated on Nov. 8. The officers will serve in 40 agencies across the state.

“I am proud of what Montana’s newest law enforcement officers have accomplished during their time at the Montana Law Enforcement Academy,” Montana Attorney General Knudsen said in a press release. “They will face challenges most cannot imagine, but I’m confident they are prepared for what lies ahead in their law enforcement careers and will serve their communities with integrity.”

Cole served as a military police officer. Her duty included a deployment to Afghanistan.

She then moved to the Wolf Point area from Portland, Ore., in 2008.

“I wanted more space,” Cole said of the move. “My father’s side of the family was from Wolf Point.”

She served as a tribal officer from 2008-2010. She then attended classes and worked various jobs until joining the sheriff’s office.

“I love the sheriff’s office,” she said. “It’s a great team. Everybody is supportive.”

She said one of the toughest parts of the job is that officers can’t be everywhere at once and that sometimes there’s no solution at an incident. “I want to make sure I’m here properly serving the people,” Cole said.
