Wolf Point Boys To Feature Tall, Tough Squad

Wolf Point’s boys’ basketball squad features good size as the Wolves enter the 2024/2025 campaign.

The team’s lone returning starter is 6-5 sophomore Zandon Calder.

“We had around 28 players come out this year total including a few eighth-graders,” Wolf Point Coach Cole Hanks said.

Other players with quality varsity playing experience include junior Richard Campbell, junior Sean Hamilton and senior Rebel Mays.

“I think our strengths this year will be our toughness and physicality,” Hanks said. “We return some tough and physical guards and posts that can mix it up and battle.”

The Wolves lost six seniors from last year’s team and return just one senior.

“We will have to learn fast on the fly,” Hanks said. “But I think we will be able to do that.”

The coach added, “I think our main goal is to improve every single practice and every single game to give us a chance to make it out of districts.”

The Wolves should improve as the season progresses. “Right now, we will have to earn our spot among the more experienced teams after going 2-18 last year. We are really looking to improve on that and give ourselves a shot at the top four to make divisionals,” Hanks said.

The coach feels the top teams in the district heading into the season are Malta, Glasgow, Poplar and Harlem.

“They are my top four right now going into the season,” Hanks said. “Hopefully, we can show up and make some noise this season. We have a dang good group of kids and they work very hard. I’m looking forward to getting the season started.”
