Commissioners OK Funds For Fire Department, Court
Roosevelt County commissioners approved funds for the Wolf Point Volunteer Fire Department and for providing a fresh look in the district courtroom during their weekly meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
The fire department sought funds to purchase a turnout washer, which costs $5,394.
Fire chief Clint Bushman explained the device is more of an extractor than a washer. He said the extractor will take soot and other materials out of the firefighters’ gear.
Commissioners approved using the $4,000 in the fire department’s account for the purchase.
Bushman said the rest of the cost will be covered by the City of Wolf Point.
Commissioners approved “option two” to repaint the courtroom at the courthouse. Cost will be $6,500 for the two-color project.
Commissioner Gary Macdonald said it’s been more than 25 years since the courtroom has been painted.
In addition, commissioners approved $1,500 to have the judges’ chambers repainted.
During public comment, Wolf Point resident Bill Juve thanks commissioners for the county’s role in bringing two new houses to the community. Juve said the project was partially made possible when the county donated lots to the city.
The county received the resignation of Chris Kilsdonk, who was the custodian for the county building in Culbertson for many years until deciding to retire. “She did an excellent job,” Commissioner Gordon Oelkers said. Pay raises were approved for Ernesto Hernandez, Kobe Clark, Nathaniel Clark and Kylie Portra.
