Red Hawks Lose First Games Of Season

The Froid/Lake Red Hawks lost their boys’ basketball opener against Custer/Hysham by a 63-24 final on Friday, Dec. 13.

The Rebels led 18-5 at the end of the first quarter and 26-13 at the half. Custer/ Hysham scored 18 points in the third quarter for a 44-15 lead.

Froid/Lake’s top scorer was Rylan Young with eight points. Carson Kelm added six points.

Also scoring were Robert Orozco with three, Aaron Orozco with three, Cody Olson with two and Teagan Fossum with two points.

Leading Custer/Hysham were Wyatt Kirby with 22 and Layne Duncan with 21 points.

In the girls’ game, Custer/ Hysham came away with a 52-32 victory.

The Red Hawks trailed 2417 at the half and 35-24 after the third quarter.

Brooklyn Nordwick scored 11 points for the Red Hawks. Isabelle Nordwick finished with eight points.

Also scoring were Mara Salvevold with five, Keira Stentoft with four, Addison Elvsaas with three and Avery Johnson with one.

Tavee Duncan scored 18 points for the Rebels.
