Christmas Program Returns To Southside School
For the first time in many years, a Christmas program was held at Southside Elementary School on Thursday, Dec. 19.
Principal Tara Thomas explained that physical education teacher Amanda Campbell was enthused about putting together a musical program to celebrate the holidays. “And we went with it,” Thomas said.
Campbell said she feels it was important to have a Christmas program at the elementary school for K-third grade students.
“As a parent myself, I know parents love Christmas programs,” she noted.
Campbell explained that it was a team effort as the school’s teachers, paras and the entire staff played important roles. “Everybody just jumped in,” Campbell said, adding that her mother decorated the set behind the singers.
Students rehearsed in their individual classrooms as well as during physical education class.
Thomas told audience members, “It’s been a long time since we’ve done a Christmas program. Everybody has worked really hard.”
The second and third grade students sang the familiar tunes of “Frosty the Snowman” and “Up on the Housetop.”
Kindergarten and first-graders performed Rudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer and Jingle Bells.
All students joined together for the
Wolves’ chant and then to sing We Wish You A Merry Christmas.
After the performance, classes held their Christmas parties.
