Fair Board Members Travel To Conventions

In November, two members of the Roosevelt County Fair Board, along with the fair manager, attended the annual Rocky Mountain Association of Fairs Convention in Rapid City, S.D.

During the event, they were inspired by uplifting speeches from various speakers and workshop leaders and enjoyed diverse entertainment acts. The primary goal of this convention was to select the children’s daily and Friday night entertainment for the 2025 and possibly 2026 Roosevelt County fairs. Planning is in progress, and the board will soon reveal the selected acts.

The Roosevelt County Fair received second place Summit Contest Awards for our Premium Guide (Fair Book), Annual Poster, Wedding Event Rental Guide and a photograph from the PeeWee Showmanship event. Additionally, our fair manager was honored as the 2024 RMAF Fair Manager of the Year.

In early December, fair manager Angela Miller traveled to Phoenix, Ariz., to attend the International Association of Fairs and Expos Convention. Attendees enjoyed various entertainment acts, met Sandra Lee from the Netflix show Blue Ribbon Baking Championship and participated in committee meetings. However, the main focus of the convention was on educational workshops. Angela is eager to implement the key message “Building On Strong Foundations” to introduce further enhancements for the 2025 Roosevelt County Fair, scheduled for Aug. 5-8 in Culbertson.

In the IAFE contests, Roosevelt County Fair achieved first place for the antique tractor showcase, which is aimed to develop into a larger initiative. Furthermore, RCF secured first place for a photograph from the ranch rodeo. The annual poster received a second place silver award and third place bronze recognition for a photo series featuring educational 4-H booths, which highlighted the “Preserving Our Past, Building Our Future” exhibits and the educational elements of the Kids Farmers Market.

Since joining the IAFE association in 2014, Roosevelt County Fair has gained valuable tools and insights that have contributed to its growth.

The Roosevelt County Fair Board meets monthly on the fourth Monday at the RC Complex in Culbertson. If you have any questions, comments, ideas, etc., attend a meeting or contact the fair office at 406-787-5881 or rooseveltcofair@ gmail.com.
