Lustre News
Christmas break is here, beginning Friday, Dec. 20, to Jan. 5. Classes at both schools resumes Jan. 6.
The EMB Church program was Dec. 22 at 6 p.m.
The Lustre Christian High School basketball teams put on a powerful show for their first home game of the season on Thursday evening, Dec. 19, against Nashua. Highlights were Lauryn Holzrichter’s bucket at the buzzer, Kayden Charette’s three, after the starters were taken out, three pointers by both teams, with good defense as well as offense. We got to see some of the younger players with their skills in fourth quarter. The crowd included young families and returning students, home from college and 2023 LCHS grads visiting. What an enjoyable community event games can be. All the tickets were paid by an anonymous donor this evening, and that has never happened at LCHS before.
Last weekend, the LCHS varsity teams played Manhattan and Manhattan Christian High School in their schools by invitation. What exciting games, especially the last one Friday against Manhattan Christian. Tied at 51 by Manhattan, we were on the edge of our seats, even watching on NFHS, as the LCHS boys pulled away in overtime 5562. For those who have moved from our community or gone on to college, the NFHS subscription is one way to keep in touch or a gift subscription from these papers. We were excited to see former Pastor John and Sharon Skillman in the audience at Manhattan Christian where their granddaughter Madelyn is on the girls’ varsity.
With ground blizzards, icy roads to our nearby towns, we are so thankful for good travel for students.
The Lustre Grade School Lego club had a huge bake sale during the first home LCHS games Thursday, as they raise their funds to participate in their activities next semester. Miss Early is their sponsor.
Alice Unger (Mrs. Norbert Unger) died Monday, Dec 16. Her memorial service is Jan. 2 in Billings, where she has lived since moving with her husband from Lustre.
