Lustre Sweeps Basketball Games Against Nashua
Lustre Girls Stop Nashua By 56-24 Margin
Lustre’s girls’ basketball team took charge in the third quarter to down Nashua, 5624, at home on Thursday, Dec. 19.
Ahead by a 30-19 half-time margin, the Lions outscored the visiting Porcupines, 15-2, in the third quarter for a 45-21 advantage.
Three straight points by Lauren Fast got Lustre off to a good start in the third quarter. After a drive by Nashua’s Dyllan Bergstrom at the 6:08 mark, Fast scored off a pass from Kencia Brown for a 3521 lead.
Lauryn Holzrichter accounted for the next four points for the Lions.
The Lions ended the third quarter on baskets by Sidney Klatt, Samantha Neufeld and Holzrichter.
Holzrichter led the Lions with 22 points. Fast finished with nine points.
Also scoring were K. Brown with seven, Neufeld with eight, Klatt with four, Hannah Brown with four and Abby Olfert with two points.
Bergstrom scored 10 points for Nashua.
The Lions opened the game with the first 14 points including eight on the redhot shooting of Holzrichter. K. Brown added four points during the stretch.
The scoring of Gracyn Sibley helped Nashua cut the margin to 16-6 at the end of the opening quarter.
Three-pointers by Neufeld and K. Brown led the Lions to a 22-10 lead during the second period.
Ahead by a 27-19 margin, the Lions ended the half on a three-pointer by Holzrichter at the buzzer.
