Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report
The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 60 calls from Dec. 23-30.
Dec. 23
Deputies assisted a citizen at Trinity Hospital who requested a ride to her apartment. The woman was transported to the Homestead Annex.
Dec. 24
Deputies assisted the Wolf Point Police Department with transporting an adult to the Fort Peck Tribal Jail in Poplar following a medical check at the Wolf Point hospital.
Deputies responded to the Family Dollar store in Poplar to a report of two females harassing a cashier. The women had purchased several items and the security system alarmed upon their exit of the store. They became loud and angry and were asked to leave by store staff. Deputies patrolled the area to ensure the women had left.
Deputies were called to Fort Kipp for a domestic disturbance. A woman had told her nephew that he was not allowed to drink alcohol at the residence and he became angry. Deputies transported the male to Poplar.
Dec. 25
Deputies assisted the Wolf Point Police Department with transporting an adult female to the Fort Peck Tribal Jail in Poplar.
Deputies responded to downtown Poplar to the American Legion bar. Employees were suspicious of an adult who they believed was purchasing alcohol for minors. The deputy took the report and went looking for the suspect vehicle, but did not find it.
Dec. 26
Deputies responded to tribal housing area in Poplar to a citizen’s report of an adult female who had possibly been assaulted. The deputy made contact with a female who claimed there’d been a disturbance in the alley behind the house. No injuries were found, but the woman was so intoxicated that she didn’t know where she lived. She was transported to the Poplar hospital where she was checked out. She was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia and transported to the tribal jail.
Dec. 27
Deputies responded to U.S. Highway 2 near Culbertson where a semi had slid off the road. The Culbertson Fire Department and the Culbertson ambulance also responded. The driver, a male from North Dakota, was transported to Roosevelt Medical Center in Culbertson. The deputy took the report of the slideoff.
Deputies responded to the Corner Bar in Poplar to a report of a woman who was in the bar who was not supposed to be there. She had left the premises by the time the deputy arrived.
Dec. 28
Deputies responded to a report of a man standing in the middle of the road blocking traffic within the Wolf Point city limits. Deputy convinced him to leave the area.
While patrolling the north side of Wolf Point, deputies observed a vehicle that was swerving. The deputy performed a traffic stop at the intersection of Fourth Avenue North and Hill Street. The 18-year-old female driver smelled of alcohol and an open bottle of alcohol was observed in the vehicle. The driver exhibited slurred speech, was unsteady on her feet and failed a field sobriety test. Two juvenile females were with her in the vehicle. All were transported to the hospital to get checked out. The driver, Amaya Steele, was charged with driving under the influence, minor in possession, careless driving and two counts of negligent endangerment and transported to the Roosevelt County Jail.
Dec. 29
Deputies responded to U.S. Highway 2 near the state line near Bainville where a vehicle had struck a deer. The deputy assisted in removing the deer from the roadway and took a crash report.
Deputies responded to Fort Kipp for a woman who had said another woman had thrown a toy at her and she couldn’t sleep. She was requesting a ride elsewhere. When the deputy arrived, the woman had already left the residence. The deputy patrolled the area, but did not find the woman.
