Bainville Council Approves Pay Raises
The Bainville Town Council was held Dec. 9 at the Bainville Town Hall. Mayor Toby Romo was present, as were Carol Rasmussen, John Gilligan and Will Rathbun, as well as clerk Billie Jo Cochran, Darrel Rasmussen, Cora Norton and David Norton.
During the public comment period, Cora Norton asked if the bench that is currently at the park was placed there as a memorial. Gilligan replied stating that the Bainville Community Development Committee reached out to the previous president of the Main Street Restoration Committee, who placed the bench there originally, and the bench is not a memorial bench.
Public Works/Fire Chief Norton reported that testing for the Insurance Service Office rating is postponed until spring of 2025.
Romo said the water improvement project is completed and everything went well.
Romo also reported that members of the Cemetery Advisory Committee are going to hold a meeting in January. Gilligan said there are funds available for new benches underneath the gazebo at the park and also for the front fence of the cemetery.
Romo recommended a pay raise for Town of Bainville employees. After discussion, the council voted to give all employees a $1 raise effective January. Romo also recommended a pay raise for the fire chief and council members. The council decided to table it until the January meeting.
Minutes were passed for November, as were items in the treasurers report, including the cash balance report, review of delinquent accounts and claims and journal vouchers in the amount of $39,395.35. Payroll was also approved in the amount of $7,911.23.
The next regular council meeting will be held on Monday, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m. at Bainville Town Hall, 211 Clark Avenue East.
