Froid/Lake Girls Down Culbertson
A 26-point performance by Mara Salvevold helped Froid/ Lake down Culbertson, 59-36, in girls’ basketball action on Saturday, Jan. 4.
The Red Hawks led by only a 17-15 margin at the end of the first quarter but increased the gap to 33-24 at the half. Six points by Salvevold and five points by Isabelle Nordwick led the attack in the period.
Froid/Lake held a 45-30 advantage at the end of the third quarter.
Salvevold hit 12 of her 16 free-throw attempts in the contest.
Also scoring for the Red Hawks were Brooklyn Nordwick with nine, I. Nordwick with eight, Leah Murray with seven, Addison Elvsaas with five, Joelle Davidson with three and Avery Johnson with one.
Culbertson’s Emma Berwick finished with 10 points. Ivy Colvin added eight points including four from the foul stripe.
Rounding out the scoring for the Cowgirls were Ayden Ator with five, Mariana Burciaga with three, Payton Labatte with three, Kalia Featherston with three, Leandra Perkins with two and Bella Petersen with two.
