Lady Wolves Drop Home Opener Against Glasgow
The Wolf Point Lady Wolves worked hard but struggled getting their offensive game going as they lost to Glasgow, 51-20, at home on Friday, Jan. 3.
The Scotties gained a 7-2 lead to start the game. Wolf Point’s lone points came on a steal and drive by Caitlyn Wilson.
After a free throw by Keeley Blount-Henderson, the Scotties increased their lead to 13-3 on a three-pointer by Joely Chappell and three free throws by Tanae Baker.
The Wolves fought back to 13-5 on a 15-footer by Blount-Henderson and a pair of free throws by Kashlyn Speak Thunder. Free throws by Chappell put Glasgow ahead 15-5 to end the opening quarter.
A pair of three-pointers by Mayzie Yoakam sparked Glasgow in the second quarter as the Scotties gained a 24-9 half-time lead.
The Scotties increased the margin to 30-10, but the Wolves responded with three-pointers by Speak Thunder and Mattie Azure. Wilson scored inside to cut the margin to 30-18.
Glasgow led 34-18 at the end of the third quarter. The Scotties tallied the last 13 points of the contest.
Speak Thunder and Wilson led the Wolves with five points each. Blount-Henderson and Azure added three points. Ameliya Doney and MacKenzie Jackson had two points.
Baker scored 11 points for Glasgow.
