Lustre Boys Stay Undefeated With Home Victory Over Bainville

 

Lustre’s boys’ basketball squad stayed undefeated for the season by knocking off Bainville, 69-12, at home on Saturday, Jan. 4.

The Lions opened the non-conference contest with the first 11 points on two three-pointers by Cam Reddig, four points by Byron Ewing and a free throw by Diek Olfert.

The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard when Rowan Wilson connected on a 17-footer with 5:11 left in the opening quarter.

After an inside basket by Wilson cut the margin to 114, Lustre accounted for the final 12 points of the quarter for a 23-4 advantage. Four points by Johnslee Pierre, a three-pointer by Prestyn Klatt and three points by Joel Reddig highlighted the streak.

Bainville’s Kaiden Holmes hit a three-pointer early in the second period, but the Lions ran off the last 16 points of the half for a 41-7 margin. Klatt, Diek Olfert and Hadden Olfert connected on three-point shots in the quarter.

Lustre outscored the Bulldogs 14-2 in the third quarter and 14-3 in the fourth period.

Top scorers for Lustre were J. Reddig with 12, Cam Reddig with 11 and Klatt with 10 points.

Also scoring were H. Olfert with eight, Pierre with eight, Clay Reddig with seven, Ewing with four, Kayden Charette with four and Diek Olfert with four.

Wilson finished with six points. Also scoring were Holmes and Carter Pacovsky with three points each.
