Farmers Union Lumber Becoming Orgill Hardware Store In Wolf Point

The Farmers Union Lumber Co. is excited about being in the process of changing to an Orgill hardware store.

Pete Paulson, district manager for Orgill, explained that there are several Orgill stores in eastern Montana including ones in Plentywood and Sidney. He said Orgill is different than other companies, such as Ace Hardware, because Orgill doesn’t brand its stores by having its name on the building.

“We believe it’s the store owner’s business,” Paulson said.

Linder Hanks, manager of Farmers Union Lumber, explained, “He will update our store to give us a fresher look.”

Paulson said goals include realigning the shelves so there’s a positive product mix. Some new brands will be offered to make sure customers have the opportunity to have the best products.

Hanks added one new brand that area customers will be excited about is Milwaukee.

For now, Orgill officials are scanning the existing products and preparing recommendations.

“We’re hoping to come out in the spring fresh,” Hanks said.

According to their website, Farmers Union has been serving area customers since Aug. 2, 1946.

Orgill is the world’s largest independently owned hardlines distributor. Orgill was founded in Memphis, Tenn., in 1847.
