Progress is continuing for the Wolf Point Area Museum’s expansion project. Under the supervision of museum board president Jim Marmon, Wolf Point High School’s industrial arts students have been helping with the construction of the project.

“It’s a good start on the framework,” Marmon said of the students’ assistance.

Although steady progress is being achieved, Marmon said that work should as adding sheet rock and ply board still needs to be done. He isn’t predicting yet when the 50 by 80 foot expansion will be completed.

Marmon explained one area of the addition will feature a replica of a barber shop. Museum officials are currently looking for Hank Arndt’s original barber chair.

Another section will feature a movie theater where videos of past Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampedes will be presented. The area will feature radio recordings of the late Marvin Presser talking about the Stampede.

Another section will feature a post office. The expansion will also feature other historical businesses such as that of a blacksmith shop.

“We have a plan pretty well in place what we want to do,” Marmon said.

The museum is looking at grants and asking for donations to pay for insulation so the inside of the building doesn’t get too hot for patrons in the summer months.
