Cold Snap Eases For Now In Area

National Weather Service Glasgow meteorologist Rich Maliawco told the Community News at press time Monday, Jan. 20, that the worst of the cold snap felt statewide since Sunday morning has lifted, with slightly warmer temps settling in through the weekend.

According to Maliawco, the lowest temps were recorded Monday morning around 7 a.m. Wolf Point saw a low of -18 degrees with wind chills of -38.

Temps dropped further below zero eastward toward the border, with -24 degrees at the North Dakota state line.

Average temps will rise above zero on Tuesday, with highs in the upper 20s and lows in the teens above zero, a trend which should hold through Friday.

Maliawco said a cold front will hit on Saturday morning, but temps should stay above zero.

“Nothing like what we just had,” Maliawco said. “It will certainly be a little more comfortable.”
