Cowboys Beat Thunder

The Culbertson Cowboys dominated the first half and defeated MonDak, 70-42, on Saturday, Jan. 18.

The Cowboys earned a 23-7 lead in the first quarter and extended the margin to 37-9 in the second period.

Brooks Solem topped Culbertson’s scorers with 19 points. Also reaching double figures were Plenny Williams with 15, Gavin Deen with 14 and Dawson Bergum with 13 points.

Rounding out the scoring were Mark Kirkaldie and Cal Steppler with two points each.

Dilan Wade accounted for 19 of MonDak’s points.

In the girls’ game, the Thunder posted a 45-27 victory.

MonDak opened the contest by taking a 17-2 lead in the first quarter. MonDak held a 23-11 half-time advantage and increased the gap to 35-17 in the third quarter.

Emma Berwick scored 12 points to lead the Cowgirls.

Also scoring were Ayden Ator with seven and Ivy Colvin with three. Adding two points each were Leandra Perkins and Mariana Burciaga. Payton Labatte had a point.

Abby Lowes led MonDak’s attack with 25 points. Evelynn Lowes added 11 points.
