Froid Council Passes Arbor Day Proclamation

The Froid Town Council held its regular monthly meeting Jan. 20. The full council was in attendance and the meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. Clerk LeeAnn Johnson read the minutes from the Dec. 9 meeting and they were approved.

Public works director Alan Engelke reported he has completed general maintenance on town streets and sidewalks. He said he has orederd a regulator for one of the lift stations and will be installing it himself to save the town expense.

Engelke said he met with Montana Rural Water Systems representatives, who said the lagoon was in good shape. Engelke will attend the Montana Rural Water Annual Conference March 12-14 in Great Falls. He will be completing ongoing education requirements.

Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Deputy Russ Corbell was in attendance and reported a handful of calls for the month, with no arrests.

The annual Arbor Day Proclamation was approved, along with a grant application for related costs. The town approved two trees to be installed at the baseball field on May 14.

Claims and payroll were approved.

Mayor Sheri Crain said that the town received $705 from the community fund drive. The next regular council meeting is set for Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Froid Community Center.
