Indians Fall Short In Fairview

Poplar dropped both conference basketball games in Fairview on Saturday, Jan. 18.

In the boys’ game, Fairview scored a 62-51 victory.

After Fairview gained a 32-26 half-time lead, Poplar struck for 17 points in the third quarter to move ahead 43-41 lead.

The Warriors then scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to pick up the win.

Poplar’s top scorers were Kaniel Ricker with 14 and Walker Burshia with 10 points.

Leading Fairview were Tyler Loan with 22, Elliot Thompson with 16 and Troy Karst with 13 points.

In the girls’ game, Fairview emerged with a 44-33 victory.

Fairview held a 19-6 halftime lead against a cold shooting Poplar team.

The Warriors were ahead 31-19 at the end of three quarters of play.

Poplar will play home against Malta on Saturday, Jan. 25, and Culbertson on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
