Bulldogs Pull Away In Fourth To Defeat Savage
Bainville’s girls’ basketball squad fought off Savage by a 40-31 margin at home on Saturday, Jan. 25. The Bulldogs led by a 1716 half-time margin and increased the gap to 23-16. Savage, however, came back to close the margin to 25-22 at the end of the third quarter.
After the Warriors pulled to a 29-29 deadlock, Bainville gained a 31-29 lead on a basket by Elsie Wilson with 3:26 remaining.
Hailey Berwick then came away with two steals and drives to put the Bulldogs ahead 35-29 with 2:14 left.
Savage scored on a basket by Miley Pilgeram with 1:47 left, but Bainville put the game away on free throws by Miah Pippenger, H. Berwick and Wilson.
Leading the Bulldogs were Wilson with 17 and H. Berwick with 12 points.
Pippenger scored three points. Adding two points each were Lila Butikofer, Tally Berwick, Addison Hansen and Chandi Johnson.
Aspen Peterson scored 14 points for the Warriors.
Bainville’s boys lost by a 44-35 margin. Savage took leads of 10-8 at the end of the first quarter and 20-14 at the half. After leading 30-23 at the end of the third quarter, Savage scored 14 points in the final period.
Rowan Wilson finished with 13 points for Bainville. Reed Winn and Isaiah Bjorge added eight points each. Kaiden Holmes had three.
