Football is his favorite sport because he like the physicality.

“I like tackling and even being tackled is fun sometimes,” he said.

Highlights have included being part of the state championship team as a freshman and playing in the state title game at home as a junior.

His senior football season was a struggle for the team, but he feels fortunate that he was healthy enough to play while other players were sidelined with injuries.

Hobbies for Martensen include riding dirt bikes and four-wheelers. “I like to mess with engines for fun,” Martensen said.

His favorite class is annual/yearbook where students work on yearbook pages and monthly newsletters.

Martensen’s favorite teacher is Kaitlyn Dahlberg. “She’s very nice and she’s fair,” he said.

He started attending school in Froid at the start of his first game. There are nine members of Froid’s current senior class.

“I like how small it is,” Martensen said of Froid. “I like knowing everybody in school and mostly in town.”

After high school, Martensen plans to study welding at Williston State College.
